BLACK & DECKER Portable Washing Machine (MODEL BPWM09W) … mystery hose

Neighbor's daughter bought the Black & Decker Portable WM (BPWM09W), unboxed it, and noticed from the bottom (which is open and shows all of the mechanicals) that a clear, plastic flexible hose was disconnected from something (?). Attached picture.

The pump is in the lower left of the picture, the tube is right next to it (see giant arrow). My guess is that it needs to attach to the pump, but there doesn't seem to be an open connection, per the neighbor's daughter.

Apologies on the picture and the fact that I haven't even seen the machine as the daughter lives an hour away from me. I'm trying to troubleshoot this from a distance and hoping I can help her without driving out there. Tried calling B&D and they sent me over to their parent company who - of course - won't answer the phone or any email we have sent.

Any ideas? (other than don't buy a B&D appliance...)

I was hoping to find a parts diagram, too.... but there's nothing out there. I even tried to do a replacement parts search in hopes of coming across descriptors for the various tubing and hoses the machine may have. Nothing.

Ventilation tubing.... hadn't thought about that one. I'll see if I can have the owner take some more photos and poke around a little more.

Is that hose completely loose, or is it connected to something on the other side (the side we cannot see)? If connected, try to trace back to what it is connected to.

By the way, where is the drain hose (connection) on the unit? Could this be it? I believe a clothes washer has an inlet AND an outlet hose. Have you determined where they both are?

I always examine boxes very carefully on a product before I open it. Perhaps a tad too late, but were there any signs the box was opened prior and then resealed? I always get a little paranoid about that, and sometimes it is not easy to determine.

Good questions.

That hose is connected to something, for sure… but I don’t know what. I’ll ask the owner to send some more pictures.

The drain hose is on the exterior. At the lower left, you can see the outlet from the pump going out of the housing. The drain hose is clamped to that.

The fill hose is at the top of the unit and unseen in the pic.

Not sure about the box. I’ll have to ask the owner… good thought.

I looked at the instruction manual. Stupid question #1: Assuming it came with the "drain hose". Is that hose currently connected to the unit right now? Hard to tell from the doc, but it appears that the drain hose should already be connected to the rear of the unit. Regardless, I'd like to know if the 'connector' on the back of the unit where that hose is (or is supposed to be) connected to is truly connected to anything. In other words, is it possible that hose end you're seeing SHOULD be attached to the connector that goes to the outside of the unit, to accept that drain hose?

Yeah, the discharge hose is connected…. Lower left off the picture is the pump. At the bottom, you’ll see an outlet going through the housing, the discharge hose is connected to that.
The drain hose that goes from the tub to the pump is that black flex tube that is left center.
