Filler to skim over uneven spots in exterior paint?

I'm fixing decorative moudling on exterior door and have some spots where paint is slightly uneven--I stripped it to the metal where the old moulding was, and couldn't sand or smooth the stripped portions seamlessly.

I gave it some 5-6 layers of primer, sanded it down, but the uneven parts are still sometimes visible at certain angles. I'm not keen on putting much more work into it, so planning on attaching new moulding and painting the door. But just in case the uneven parts still show up, is there some filler or similar material that I could use to skim over the uneven sections, then give it another coat of paint?

Edit: picture of primed door with arrows pointing to uneven spots. Some of it will be covered by new moulding, some won't.
