Hope this message finds you well and happy. These are steel flanges that attach gas struts to the trunk doors on my ski boat, which only run in fresh water. One of them is a bit rusty, the other pristine. I'd like to kill the rust on one and apply the most effective rust protection to both. I've read about some DIY rust removers online including soaking in vinegar overnight, scrubbing with lemon juice or potatoes and salt. Anybody had success with these? Please advise your best solutions for killing rust and keeping it at bay. It would be most helpful if you only recommend products/methods you have actually used and had success with. Many thanks for your help, PW
